Our story

Twelve years, one question.

We met in the first week of law school and disagreed about everything for the next four years. Somewhere between the bar exam and our first jobs, the arguing turned into something else. Marcus proposed at the top of the cathedral steps on a Sunday in March, in front of a tour group that applauded. We are going back to the same steps, with you this time.

The day

Order of the day.

  1. Guests seated

    Manila Cathedral. Please be in your pew by 2:45 PM. The doors close for the processional.

  2. Nuptial Mass

    Officiated by Fr. Antonio Reyes. One hour and fifteen minutes, then rice and confetti on the steps.

  3. Photographs

    Family and entourage at the cathedral. Guests proceed to the reception; coaches leave from Plaza Roma.

  4. Cocktails

    The Rizal Ballroom foyer, Makati. Champagne, a string quartet, and the seating chart.

  5. Grand entrance and dinner

    Five courses. Choose your main course when you reply.

  6. Toasts, cake, first dance

    Three speeches, timed. Then the band until one in the morning.

Cabildo corner Beaterio Street, Intramuros, Manila. Enter through the main doors on Plaza Roma. Ushers will seat you.

Ayala Avenue corner Makati Avenue, Makati City. Valet at the hotel driveway. The ballroom is on the second level, past the grand staircase.

Between the two

Coaches from the cathedral

Two coaches leave Plaza Roma at 4:45 PM and 5:15 PM for the ballroom, and return to Intramuros at midnight and 1:00 AM. If you drive, parking at Plaza Roma is free for our guests until 6:00 PM; valet at the hotel is complimentary all night.

Tuxedos or dark suits with a bow tie for gentlemen; floor-length gowns for ladies. Principal sponsors: black suit and a champagne or gold gown, please. The cathedral asks for covered shoulders during the Mass; a wrap or bolero is enough.

Questions

Before the day.

May I bring a guest?

Only if your invitation is addressed to you and a guest. The cathedral and the ballroom are both at capacity. Add the seat when you reply.

Are children invited?

We love them, and we have chosen an adults-only evening so that parents can enjoy it too. The ring bearer and flower girls are the exception.

Can I take photographs during the Mass?

The cathedral asks that phones stay away during the ceremony. Our photographers will share everything. After the recessional, please take all the photos you like.

What about gifts?

Your presence is the gift. If you wish to give, a contribution to our first home would mean a great deal. Details are on the card.

Where should out-of-town guests stay?

At the reception hotel. A room block is held under Santos-Villar for the 22nd and 23rd; the code is on the card.
